As part of the Comenius project Food for thought our teachers are encouraged to integrate this theme in their lessons in order for our students to explore food from diverse aspects. During some of the science lessons students are going to carry out a set of experiments to explore and investigate the science behind food.

In the first experiment students had to carry out chemical tests to identify starch, sugar, protein and fat in different food samples. By adding different solutions to the food sample and following the instructions given, students had to decide whether the food sample contained the food substance being tested. Observing colour changes proved the presence or absence of the food substance
