What is Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ is the EU's programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe.
 

It has an estimated budget of €26.2 billion. This is nearly double the funding compared to its predecessor programme (2014-2020).

The 2021-2027 programme places a strong focus on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and promoting young people’s participation in democratic life.

It supports priorities and activities set out in the European Education Area, Digital Education Action Plan and the European Skills Agenda. The programme also

  • supports the European Pillar of Social Rights
  • implements the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027
  • develops the European dimension in sport

ICDL

International Certification of Digital Literacy (ICDL), formerly known as European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), is the global standard in end-user computer skills certifications.

ICDL consists of a set of IT awards ranging from entry level digital skills certifications to intermediate and advanced certifications. Whether in school, university or in the workplace, ICDL offers the skills you need to succeed. ICDL enables individuals and organisations to assess, build and certify their competence in the use of computers and digital tools to the globally-recognised ICDL standard.

ICDL Certification is available in over 100 countries, across a network of more than 20,000 Test Centres, delivering over 70 million ICDL Certification tests to more than 16 million people worldwide.

 

ICDL Start

 

ICDL Start is aimed at persons with no experience whatsoever of computers and the Internet. The modules of ICDL Start are the building blocks for digital literacy, describing essential skills and knowledge.

The ICDL Start award consists of 2 modules:

The ICDL Start certificate is awarded to candidates who successfully complete the above modules (2).

ICDL Start certificate

The ICDL Start certificate is awarded to candidates who successfully complete these two (2) modules: Computer & Online Essentials and Application Essentials.

ICDL certificates are NOT issued immediately by the Test Centre. ICDL Malta will issue the certificate and pass this on to the Test Centre where the last test was held. Candidates will collect the certificate from the Test Centre where they had sat for their last test. The fee involved in issuing the first ICDL certificate is incorporated in the cost of the ICDL Registration Number.

 

ICDL Workforce (MQF 3)

 

ICDL Workforce is designed to build the digital skills of the modern workplace. These modules will help employees and candidates demonstrate their effective use of technology with skills and knowledge that can be further developed by progressing to the ICDL Professional modules and beyond.

ICDL Workforce is a test of practical skills and competencies and consists of seven (7) separate modules covering computer theory and practice. To achieve the ICDL Workforce certificate, the Candidate must successfully pass a test in seven (7) modules.

ICDL Workforce consists of 5 compulsory modules and 2 elective modules. The modules in ICDL Workforce are:

ICDL Workforce Certificate

The ICDL Workforce certificate is awarded to candidates who successfully complete all five (5) compulsory modules and any two (2) elective modules. 

The ICDL Workforce certificate is comparable to Level Three (3) of the Malta Qualifications Framework.

ICDL certificates are NOT issued immediately by the Test Centre. ICDL Malta will issue the certificate and pass this on to the Test Centre where the last test was held. Candidates will collect the certificate from the Test Centre where they had sat for their last test. The fee involved in issuing the first ICDL certificate is incorporated in the cost of the ICDL Registration Number.

 

ICDL Tech (MQF Level 3)

 

ICDL Tech is aimed at students who are interested in computing, engineering and science careers. In addition to the modules covering fundamental digital skills needed for the modern workplace, ICDL Tech includes modules to support the development of programming/coding skills.

ICDL Tech is a test of practical skills and competencies and consists of seven (7) separate modules covering computer theory and practice. To achieve the ICDL Tech certificate, the Candidate must successfully pass a test in seven (7) modules.

ICDL Tech consists of 5 compulsory modules and 2 elective modules. The modules in ICDL Tech are:

Compulsory modules

 – Computer & Online Essentials
 – Documents (formerly Word processing)
 – Spreadsheets
 – Using Databases
 – Coding Principles OR Robotics

Elective modules (choose any 2)

 – Coding Principles OR Robotics
 – Cyber Security (formerly IT Security) 
 – Information Literacy
 – Image Editing
 – Remote Work
 – Web Editing

The ICDL Tech certificate is awarded to candidates who successfully complete all five (5) compulsory modules and any two (2) elective modules.
